HB272 Permitless Carry hearing

Montgomery, AL February 9, 2022

Today the house committee heard comments from both sides of the aisle concerning BamaCarry backed HB272. This bill known as Constitutional Carry or Permitless Carry bill heard great comments from everyone involved. Of course, the anti-bill representatives made the same tireless anti-constitution arguments that they have been giving since 2012.

Proponents of the bill including representatives from the gun-rights group BamaCarry gave convincing arguments based on constitutional truth. Both Eddie Fulmer president of BamaCarry, and Gene Piatkowski, also from BamaCarry did outstanding jobs speaking to the committee. Their arguments were precise, spot-on, and I believe very convincing. Why do I think this? Because they simply stated the truth and backed it with the Constitution.

What I gathered from the opposition was that evidently these men were never taught the Constitution in school or they choose to ignore it. I seriously doubt they care about the document that is supposed to be their road map.

The highlight of the hearing was when Sheriff Matt Gentry took to the floor and gave an excellent argument that was for passing the bill and he asked the committee to do so. He said that he understood both sides of the debate but the bottom line is permits do nothing for safety and implied that they are just flat out unconstitutional.

I interviewed Sheriff Gentry a few years back and I said then and still believe that he is what a true Sheriff for the people and the Constitution was supposed to be. Watch the video and leave a comment.

Hopefully, Alabama is about to become the next Constitutional Carry state!
